Lisa E. Nanni

Lisa E. Nanni

Artist Statement:

My recent sculptures utilize light and color to depict the way that energy flows into the natural environment. These sculptures are constructed with a combination of anodized aluminum, art glass and colored acrylic, which are then illuminated by neon and argon tubing. The colored, luminous tubings suggest the movement of energy and also direct colored lighting into the surrounding space. My sculptures without neon similarly convey energy waves through the color interactions of the anodized aluminum, art glass and shaped acrylic pieces. My sculptural practice is often accompanied by diagrammatic works on black paper that map out my sculptural imagery on a two dimensional plane. My practice expands upon the relationship between light, color theory and space, visualizing the elemental basis of energy generation.
