Christian Nguyen was born in Saigon, Vietnam, 1968 and soon after immigrated to New York City. He received the Masters of Fine Arts at The Graduate Program, Hunter College in 2000 and his Bachelors in Fine Arts from The Cooper Union School of Art in 1990. Mr. Nguyen began his career as an architectural photographer, documenting architectural structures for the City of New York. This experience of looking through the glass of a 4 x 5 camera, and studying architectural forms - later informed his graduate work and his development as a studio artist. He has worked with installation, video, drawing, but painting has emerged as the dominant medium in his studio practice. He is interested in modes of interaction, how architecture and spatial imagery can express social ideas and experiences both visual and conceptual.
